SYNOPSIS
Nitesh's father has made a decision that will change his and his children's lives forever. After 39 years in Denmark, he wants to give up his Danish residence permit and move back to India to start a new life. And once the decision is made, he can't take it back. Nitesh sets out on a filmmaking journey to understand his mysterious father and his irrevocable decision. As the film progresses, a complex and dramatic picture emerges of a life that did not go according to plan. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR Nitesh Anjaan (born 1988) was born and raised in Copenhagen. Since 2010, he has been working on his first novel, to be published in 2016. During this time, he has debuted as a short story author, and he won the Talent Award at “Metro-Litteratur 2011” with his short story “About Amsterdam in Copenhagen”. Furthermore, Nitesh has taken courses at “Testrup School” and carries a bachelor degree in Communication from Copenhagen Business School. He is currently studying at The National Film School of Denmark. “Far from Home” is his debut as a film director. BEHIND THE SCENES The work with “Far from Home” starts in spring 2013, when Nitesh Anjaan borrows a camera from one of his friends. He wants to get to know his father before it is too late. The film almost didn’t happen because the director suddenly realized how deeply involved his father was in living a double life, feeding his gambling addiction in the darkness of the arcades. |
